Frequently asked questions.
-
If you are planning on paying by medical insurance please contact your insurer for treatment authorisation before your appointment. Some insurers may need you to consult your GP or a specialist before they grant you authorisation. (Please see guide below in “Can I claim on my medical insurance”)
If you don’t have medical insurance there’s no need to see your GP first.
If you have any reports or scans that may help with your assessment then please bring them to your first consultation or arrange for them to be sent securely using Egress Switch (https://reader.egress.com) If you have had investigations but don’t have the reports then please ask for them to be forwarded before your initial consultation .
If you’re taking any medication please bring a list of what you’re taking as well as dosage and frequency.

The initial appointment will start with a thorough assessment and some treatment if it’s indicated. You’ll be asked questions about your symptoms, health, medication, lifestyle, etc. This helps to guide us to what may be causing your problem, what type and how much treatment is best suited to you and what exercises or advice are realistic and can fit in with your lifestyle. After this we’ll do various tests (based on what we’ve learned from the questions) which may involve looking at how far your joints move, how stable they are, muscle strength, your movement control, sensation, reflexes, etc. It’s best to be able to see the involved area as we also check for any bruising, swelling, asymmetry, muscle imbalances, changes to skin or muscle tone, etc, so it’s easiest to examine legs if you wear shorts or vest tops if we’re examining arms/shoulders/necks. But most importantly we want you to feel comfortable during the assessment so if you’d rather not remove clothing we can work around it and we’re quite happy if you’d like to bring a friend or relative with you to any appointments.
We’ll explain our findings after the assessment and make recommendations but will discuss with you what approach you feel most comfortable with.
Although the testing at the initial appointment takes time it’s crucial in order to establish the right treatment approach and advice for you.
Follow up appointments involve mainly treatment. At the beginning of follow up appointments we’ll ask you about your response to your last treatment and we’ll re-test a measurement to check objectively how you’re responding but the remainder of the appointment will be spent on treatment.

Your response to treatment can differ depending on what your issue is. Some patients with pain notice varying degrees of relief after treatment, particularly after acupuncture or Interferential therapy. Although you’re likely to feel more mobile after manual therapy such as joint mobilisations or massage it is normal to feel “worked on” temporarily.
Please contact us if you have any concerns or questions after your treatment. We may be able to offer advice to help. Please don’t wait until your next treatment to tell us.

The entrance to the Guernsey Tennis Centre is situated along Longcamps Road near a three way junction. If you are coming from La Ramee the entrance is on the left (just after Les Portes on your right). If you’re coming from the Camp du Roi direction (from RH Gaudion) pass DHS on your right and continue past the row of houses on your right. The entrance to the Tennis Centre is on your right after the last house in that row.
